Recently, I went for a gathering together with a group of friends at Shawn’s house. They told us that we were going there to try out the new game console called Kinect.

Kinect? The first thing I’ve thought of after hearing the word Kinect is, is it a bee? It sounds a little like “hornet” so I thought it may be another species of bee.

The full name for it is actually Kinect Xbox 360. Just in case you do not know what it is, it is a game console.

When we went over to Shawn’s house, they set up the game console and we started trying out a few games.

The first game we tried out was a dancing game. We started out with going through the practice mode which they will teach you a few simple dance steps. The dance steps become more and more complicated as the level of difficulty goes up.

The sensor is able to detect the movements we make; even the slightest bit of movement would be captured in the game. I find that it is quite interesting since it is the first gaming console I’ve heard of that is able to capture all the movements that we make.

I find that this game is quite fun although a few of the dance steps are quite unglamorous but it is good for those who want to learn how to dance.

The next game that we tried was a boxing game. We were taught on how to attack and defend and we would need to do the same in real life, like real boxing, which is to kick and punch. Isn’t that interesting?

So now it was my turn to kick and punch!

Punch him on the face!

After trying out this game, I realised that it wasn’t really that fun because it wasn’t able to full detect our movements. Sometimes when we punch too fast, it wouldn’t respond on the game. Every time we start the game, we need to go through all the instructions on how to punch, kick and defend and we were not able to go straight to the game.

Another bad side about this game is that in two-player mode, we weren’t able to sync two players with the game. It was able to detect only one player.

We ordered quite a few pizzas and some other food. It was quite filling and I like the spicy chicken wings the most.

The last game that we tried was Halo. It was the most difficult game I’ve played. For Halo, we are using the game controllers to play. It was very hard to control for beginners and trying to shoot the enemies is really very hard as it is very hard to move around with 2 different types of movements. One is moving forward and backward while the other one was moving around 360 degrees.

Overall, it was fun gathering with friends once in awhile. I think that Kinect is actually quite a good console because of the advanced technology it has, which is motion sensor but it depends on what type of games you are playing. What I mean is that for example, for the dancing game, it was able to detect the motion of the player which as for the boxing game, it was able to detect the motion fast enough.
