Large-Format Printing Power and Convenience with Canon’s New imagePROGRAF Line-up

Singapore, 13 May 2010 – Canon today announces the introduction of three new imagePROGRAF-series large-format inkjet printers designed to satisfy a wide range of printing demands, including CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) applications, as well as poster and general-notice production. The new line-up comprises the A0+ (36 inch wide)-model imagePROGRAF iPF755 and iPF750, and the A1+ (24 inch wide)-model imagePROGRAF iPF650 – all of which use Canon’s proprietary 5-colour dye and pigment reactive ink system.

“Canon strives to continually raise the bar for our products and our specialised large-format printers are no exception,” said Andrew Koh, Director and General Manager of the Consumer Imaging and Information Division, Canon Singapore. “By analysing the usage patterns and physical constraints of our large-format print customers, we have made the new imagePROGRAF-series faster and even more accessible.”

The three new Canon imagePROGRAF models realize outstanding operating convenience by enabling users to carry out all procedures, such as ink replacement and paper setting, from the front of the machines. As the models do away with procedures requiring access from the rear, they can be installed against a wall to maximize work-area space. The lineup offers a range of features for enhanced ease of use, including the easy slide-in setting of media rolls, and a printout collection basket that ensures that standard-sized*1 output of design drawings and other large-format documents remain in the order in which they were printed.

The Canon iPF755, iPF750 and iPF650 feature accelerated print-head and paperfeeding drive speeds, enabling the high-speed printing of an A1-size poster in approximately 28 seconds*2. The new imagePROGRAF lineup also supports high productivity through the inclusion of sub-tanks for each ink colour, which ensure a continuous supply of ink for uninterrupted printing, even in the event that a primary ink tank should run out of ink in the middle of a printing job. The imagePROGRAF iPF755 is further equipped with a large-capacity 80GB hard disk drive to support high productivity for CAD, GIS and other high-volume printing jobs.

The three new Canon printers are bundled with software to fulfill a variety of printing needs. Print Plug-In for Office enables users to create large-format printouts of documents and illustrations created by Microsoft Office programs, while PosterArtist 2008 Lite makes possible the easy creation of professional-quality posters. Additionally, imagePROGRAF Status Monitor software includes an accounting function to facilitate the efficient management of printing costs.

In addition to the new large-format printer lineup, Canon today also introduced PosterArtist 2009 and Premium Plain Paper roll media (both sold separately), strengthening its print solution offerings for the in-house production of posters and notices, effectively responding to user needs for cost and time savings.
