Singapore, 23 June 2010 – Canon, a leader in digital imaging and advanced office solutions, unveils the latest member of the imagePROGRAF-series with the new imagePROGRAF iPF6350, an award winning model won from the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA). Featuring an 80 GB hard disk that supports high-volume printing, this printer helps to streamline workflows for easier and more efficient printing. Ideal for graphic applications and colour proofing, the new printer features Canon's new 12-Color LUCIA EX pigment ink set – which provides a new level of performance – essential for professional users.
"Canon's and GMG software's joint solution has resulted in creating a printer that sets new printing standards and meets the stringent demands of graphic art professionals," said Andrew Koh, Director and General Manager of the Consumer Imaging and Information Division, Canon Singapore. "The GMG/Canon proofing system in the new imagePROGRAF iPF6350 delivers maximum colour accuracy and production reliability, saving time and money for companies."
The Best of the Best: Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) Award
Featuring the combination of Canon's new proprietary twelve colour ink (LUCIA EX) system, a colour calibration function and the newly developed image processing technology, the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6350 won the hearts of the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) judges with its "sophisticated print quality and ability to fulfil the demands of professional users.".
Packed with the capability to produce high quality images and covering an area on the colour gamut (approximately) 20% larger than the previous models, the imagePROGRAF iPF6350 was awarded with the title of the "Best Large Format Printer in 2010".
The new large-format printer achieves not only richer and sharper black expression and accurate reproduction of the details and subtle shading of dark areas, but also reduces the occurrence of "bronzing,", a phenomenon where printed colours take on a metallic hue depending on the angle at which they are viewed.
Sharper, precision technology
Featuring an enhanced printer carriage with increased precision and rigidity, Canon's imagePROGRAF iPF6350 delivers improved ink ejection accuracy. The enhanced frame structure contributes to crisp black text as well as sharp white knockout text. This also allows higher line and text precision, enhanced colour representation and uniformity. The new carriage provides superior gloss homogeneity for improved resolution and graphical consistency in proof printing. Finally, the new model offers a wider colour gamut with over 90% coverage of Pantone colours to realise rich colours expression.*
A new generation of proofing systems
The Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6350 allows users to establish a tailored proofing system from a range of usage applications. The large format inkjet printer also supports RIP's (Resin Impregnated Paper) released by major venders such as GMG, CGS, EFI, and ONYX which supports a range of print applications such as proofs, designs, and commercial photos. This allows designers, photographers, and other professional users to conveniently print without changing their preferred workflows.
"We are pleased to strengthen our partnership with a global player such as Canon", said Paul Willems, CEO of GMG GmbH & Co. KG. "I am confident that this successful relationship will hugely benefit graphic arts professionals. GMG's colour management knowledge is focused in this new proofing solution to provide outstanding print quality."
* Calibration accuracy: The average colour difference ΔE (ΔE2000). For details on measurement conditions and method please refer to product catalogue or homepage.
To ensure the highest production reliability and finest quality proofing results, the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6350 large-format inkjet printer has been optimised for GMG's, developer & supplier of high-end colour management and proofing solutions and superior inkjet proofing substrates. Additionally, the extensive technological collaboration between GMG and Canon brings to market an integrated software and hardware package for high-end contract proofing applications that meet both GMG's and Canon's high-quality standards.
Photographic output
In order to produce a high level of accuracy and quality, Canon's imagePROGRAF iPF6350 utilises a newly developed image processing technology that accurately converts RGB data into ink colour during printing. This technology allows the fine-tuning and retouching of colours and images on Adobe Photoshop before printing.
The Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6350 has a colour calibration function utilising an internal high-performance multi-sensor to detect, adjust and compensate accurately for variations in density among print heads. This results in stable colour reproduction and accurate colour matching. This colour calibration function is easily accessible through the printer operation panel and the entire process can be completed in a short ten minutes.
The imagePROGRAF iPF6350 also features inks with enhanced scratch resistance that delivers increased protection from external scratches by adding a slipping material and a polymer that lowers the coefficient of friction and strengthens the bond in the ink layer. This ensures that your print outs are longer lasting and more durable.
Simplified workflows and maximise productivity
To support high-volume printing, this printer is equipped with a large-capacity 80GB hard disk drive that helps to quicken print speeds and reduce print job recovery time by freeing up the memory of the PC.
To minimise the hassle of having the need to adjust the printer workflows and settings when using third-party media, the Media Configuration Tool included in the Canon's imagePROGRAF iPF6350 allows the adjustment, registration, and distribution of various parameters. This tool also makes possible safe and effortless printing and proofing when using non-Canon brand media.
Pricing and availability
The new Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6350 large-format printer is available now at authorised Canon dealers at S$7,299.
