Canon Unveils Slimmest Scanner Range to Date: The Affordable CanoScan LiDE210 and LiDE 110

Singapore, 19 August 2010 – Canon introduces two new additions to its CanoScan LiDE scanner range: the CanoScan LiDE 210 and LiDE 110. Sleek and compact - with the LiDE 210 being the thinnest Canon scanner to date – both the LiDE 210 and LiDE 110 offer consumers affordable, high-speed scanning with exceptional image quality. With Canon's proprietary document and image management software, photo archiving, document digitisation, and file sharing have never been easier.

"Canon created the new CanoScan LiDE scanners to cater to consumers who need high-speed scan performance and exceptional image quality in a tiny footprint," said Andrew Koh, Director and General Manager of the Consumer Imaging and Information Division, Canon Singapore. "With the energy efficient CanoScan LiDE 210 and LiDE 110, consumers can be confident that the finished product will be of a comparable quality to the original."

High speed, undeniable quality
The CanoScan LiDE 210 features a CIS element with 4800 x 4800 dots per inch (dpi) optical scan resolution and five buttons for easy one-touch scanning (two dedicated to multi-page PDF creation).

Designed for the budget-conscious user, the CanoScan LiDE 110 scanner features optical scan resolutions of up to 2400 x 4800dpi. With four buttons for one-touch operation, the LiDE 110 can quickly and easily scan documents, convert documents into PDF files and create e-mail attachments and at the touch of a button.

The CanoScan LiDE 210 takes approximately 10 seconds to scan a colour A4-size document at 300dpi, with the CanoScan LiDE 110 coming in at about 16 seconds. Deploying 3-colour LED light source that requires virtually no warm-up time, both scanners are powered through a USB connection, requiring no separate power adaptor, which makes for fuss-free setup and operation.

Both models are able to accommodate bulky items with an Advanced Z-Lid design that rises up to 20mm - for scanning thick items such as magazines and textbooks. Additionally, the LiDE 210 allows users to scan with the unit vertically positioned.

Distinctive features and Energy Star compliance
Both scanners feature Canon's Auto-Scan mode that automatically identifies the original document type and saves scans into the appropriate image-type categories (including standard-sized documents, photographs or business cards). Another Canon's distinctive feature is the Auto Document Fix that enhances the readability of scanned documents by sharpening and blackening text. With Canon's Dual Colour Gamut Processing Technology, document copies made from existing copies are optimised to retain text sharpness and accurate colour hues.

In addition, being Energy Star compliant, both the LiDE 210 and LiDE 110 scanners are designed for low-power consumption at only 2.5W while scanning and a mere 1.4W while in standby mode.

Coated in hair-line silver, the LiDE 210 exudes a premium feel while the LiDE 110 is finished in a glossy piano black to suit any modern home.

Pricing and availability
The CanoScan LiDE 210 and LiDE 110 scanners will be available from mid-October at all Canon authorised dealers. Prices are to be announced in mid-October.
