Singapore, 26 August 2010 – Canon today announces the PowerShot SX130 IS, the latest addition to the SX series which is noted for its superb zoom capabilities. With a 12.1 megapixel lens, 12x optical zoom, Smart Auto that detects up to 28 scene modes, High Definition (HD) and movie recording with Miniature effect, the PowerShot SX130 IS is the perfect choice for users seeking an easy-to-use value-packed digital camera.

More Power than Ever Before - The PowerShot SX130 IS
Featuring a 12.1 megapixel sensor and a wide-angle 28mm 12x optical zoom lens, the PowerShot SX130 IS has a wider field of view and greater zoom ratio than its predecessor - the PowerShot SX120 IS. Coupled with Canon's Optical Image Stabilization technology and a DIGIC 4 image processor, the PowerShot SX130 IS is able to achieve brilliant images when capturing distant objects. The large 3.0-inch LCD screen with a 230k dot resolution and optional on-screen 'Hints and Tips' allows for easy navigation and clear playback.
This generation of the PowerShot SX series comes with Smart Auto and Scene Detection Technology which is able to detect up to 28 different scenes. This ensures that the camera is optimally adjusted and focused on your shot, whether you're enjoying a brilliant sunset or capturing that special birthday cake moment, the Smart Auto feature allows users to capture the perfect image.
By popular request, additional creative modes that were introduced in the PowerShot SX210 model are now available on the PowerShot SX130. Adventurous users can try out the Miniature effect, which mimics the effect of a tilt-shift lens, or the Fish-eye effect, while others can select the Super Vivid mode to help boost colour saturation or the Poster effect which adds a unique retro feel to images.
For night photography, the camera offers a Low Light mode for shooting in dim conditions. There's also a manual mode that allows adjustments on settings such as exposure and shutter speed.
Additional features also enable the capturing of split-second moments without any hassle. The Servo AF and AE automatically adjusts focus and exposure when tracking a moving subject, while Smart Shutter with Face Detection technology ensure great group photos by providing the ability to control the shutter with a wink, a smile or after a new face enters the frame. Blink detection also alerts the user when one of the subjects has their eyes closed, creating the best possible final image.
Moving Beyond Images: Introducing High Definition Movie Recording
With a growing number of users enjoying simple movie recording on their cameras, the PowerShot SX130 IS also supports 720p High Definition (HD) video recording with stereo sound. This allows users to switch effortlessly between capturing high-quality images and videos. Movie recording is also made easier with the camera's quiet zoom motor and continuous autofocus, ensuring that moving objects remain sharp and clear.
New to this generation of PowerShot models is a new miniature movie scene mode. Similar to the miniature effect mentioned earlier, this new mode allows users to capture the same fun and quirky effects on video.
This model supports the new SDXC memory cards, enabling up to 2TB of video and full-resolution stills to be stored without needing to switch memory cards.
