Canon Unveils a New Touch of Class for the PIXMA Range with the Canon PIXMA MG6170 and MG8170
With a bold new look, the new Canon PIXMA will have new features and a new Intelligent Touch System that will leave consumers wanting more
Singapore, 19 August 2010 – Canon today introduces the new and improved range of PIXMA AIO (All-In-One)-series photo printers: the PIXMA MG6170 and MG8170. Both wireless photo printers showcase Canon's unique Intelligent Touch System, offering unrivalled elegance and ease of use to consumers. Coupled with an improved printing speed, new HD Movie Printing and Flickr Integration Photo Print features, the new PIXMA range can do more than just turn heads with its design.

Beauty from the Inside - Introducing the Intelligent Touch System
Leaving the traditional physical buttons at the door, the printers have adopted a new Intelligent Touch System which has been specially designed for the PIXMA MG6170 and MG8170.
At rest, the control interface is hidden by the piano black finish of the body. The controls come to life from within when the printers are powered on. Not only does this new interface look gorgeous, the capacitive touch-screen panel ensures that each command responses immediately without any lag. The integrated touch-based Scroll Wheel on both printers allows for easy navigation between menus.
The PIXMA Black Series features a 3.0-inch and 3.5-inch tilt LCD display respectively, which allows a clear display of image previews and printer operation information. In addition, both the printers' LCD display screen flushes with the top panel when it the LCD screen is stowed away.
A Balance between Brains and Beauty
Proving that the PIXMA MG6170 and MG8170 printers are more than just head turners, these wireless AIOs come with a maximum colour resolution of 9600 x 2400dpi. Coupled with the use of 6-colour individual ink tanks and the ChromaLife100+ ink system on both the PIXMA printers, this provides more vibrant, longer-lasting photos and stunning black-and-white prints that resist fading. These factors contribute to printing photos that maintain the rich quality and high standards that are expected from a Canon PIXMA printer.
Going beyond just printing photographs, the PIXMA MG6170 and MG8170 boast a Full HD Movie Print feature that prints still images taken from HD video footages captured by a Canon digital camera. Proving that it is not a slouch either, the MG6170 and MG8170 are capable of printing a 4 x 6" borderless photo of excellent quality in just 20 seconds. These PIXMA Black Printers are equipped with 2-Way Paper Feeders which are equipped to handle various paper types and sizes for different printing needs.
Making it the ideal partner for small homes and offices, the PIXMA MG8170 also comes with CCD scanning technology, allowing 35mm film scanning at up to 4800 x 9600dpi. This enables consumers to reproduce and preserve unforgettable moments from the past.
Going Beyond Printing - Software to Bring Out the Best in Each and Every Photograph
Helping consumers make adjustments and optimizing their photographs for printing, the PIXMA MG6170 and MG8170 are bundled with Canon's Easy-PhotoPrint Pro plug-in for seamless integration with Adobe Photoshop.
In addition, the new PIXMA AIO photo printer range also features the Auto Photo Fix II software. With functions such as face-recognition and scene categorisation optimisation and Intelligent Colour Cast Correction, it helps to bring out the best in every photograph. The printers also come complete with Canon's full Advanced Media Handling capabilities which feature Auto Duplex Printing and direct printing on CD / DVDs for that added personalised touch.
To encourage creativity, consumers who purchase the MG6170 and MG8170 will be given exclusive access to the Premium edition of Canon's Creative Park, allowing them to download limited editions of photos and illustrations to create their very own origami and paper craft.

Catering to the connected world that we live in, the PIXMA MG6170 and MG8170 comes with the standard memory card supports, infrared and the 802.11n wireless standard. Setting up the wireless network can be completed swiftly and easily by simply using the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).
To make printing accessible and hassle free, Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and Android Phone users can download the free Canon Easy-PhotoPrint (EPP) application and print images directly from your mobile device.
