Singapore, 3 June 2010 – Canon today unveiled the imageCLASS MF5870dn, a new network-ready laser multifunction printer offering high quality A4-size monochrome documents. Suitable for SME and corporate workgroup environments, the imageCLASS MF5870dn balances durable performance (30 ppm, A4 size), rich connectivity (USB and Ethernet enabled) and energy efficiency (approx. 3W in power save mode) in a compact and durable device. Powered by Canon's Quick First Print (QFP) technology and cost-saving features, the imageCLASS MF5870dn drives office productivity while ensuring smooth documentation workflow.

Effective Networking and Connectivity
The network-ready monochrome laser multifunction imageCLASS MF5870dn has been built around the unique needs of small to medium-sized workgroup environments. Enabling users to share printing, scanning, copying and fax capabilities, the imageCLASS MF8570dn also features automatic double-sided copying and scanning with a 50-sheet Duplex Auto Document Feeder (ADF).
The imageCLASS MF5870dn features SEND functionality with Compact PDF, which provides faster, more efficient document distribution directly to email addresses, network folders and USB memory keys directly from the printer. In addition, it enables a smaller file size to be created without compromising on image quality.
Maximum Endurance and Uptime
The imageCLASS MF5870dn is built with a robust engine which can endure a duty cycle of up to 15,000 pages per month – rigorous enough for most SMBs and corporate environments.
In addition to the standard 250-sheet tray, 50-sheet multi-purpose tray, and 50-sheet ADF, the new imageCLASS MF5870dn is able to accommodate an optional 500-sheet paper feeder. The resulting maximum 850-sheet capacity makes this model suitable foe for organisations with high print volumes.
The imageCLASS MF5870dn utilises Canon's All-In-One cartridge system which incorporates the toner, drum and cleaning elements into one unit. This reduces maintenance requirements and ensures continuous high quality prints – as components subject to significant wear and tear are refreshed every time the cartridge is replaced. There is also a high yield cartridge option which maximises economies of scale by further reducing printing costs and lowering down time.
Secure Printing
The printer also addresses the security requirement of any organization by its User and Department ID Management feature which can cater up to 100 IDs. This prevents the unauthorised access by unintended users. The security feature also allows page limits and restrictions to be set for each user.

The imageCLASS MF5870dn incorporates Canon's Quick First-Print (QFP) technologies which enables the device to rapidly wake up from sleep mode - offering an impressive fast First Copy Out Time (FCOT) of eight seconds.
QFP technologies utilise Canon's On-Demand Fixing technology that uses ceramic heaters to transmit heat instantly to the fixing unit. Not only does this enable the quick wake up from sleep mode but it also reduces energy consumption when compared with conventional fixing systems.
The imageCLASS MF5870dn is Energy Star certified and has a Typical Electricity Consumption (TEC) of only 1.321 kWh per week, which is one of the lowest in its class. Automatic double-sided printing comes standard in this device, reducing paper consumption, operating cost and subsequent impact on the environment.
