Singapore, 3 March 2010 – Canon’s four new compact cameras push the boundaries of compact cameras by changing the way photographers take their photos by integrating new effects, features and shooting modes into their sleek and stylish range of compact cameras. The new line up begins with the re-defined PowerShot SX210 IS followed by the slimmest-ever IXUS 130, the feature packed IXUS 210 and the affordable IXUS 105. With better performance and features, the cameras offer greater flexibility and encourage creativity with new scene modes such as Fish-eye and Miniature Effects these cameras add a new creative dimension to what is achievable from a point and shoot.

A Totally New View: New Shooting Modes
Guaranteed to change the way you view your photos, a Fish-eye and Miniature Effect have been added to the PowerShot SX210 IS, IXUS 210 and IXUS 130.

Fish Eye Effect:
Spur your creativity with the new fish-eye effect! Similar to the fish-eye lens previously used in DSLR lenses, this new effect allows consumers to craft their images into quirky shots. There are three varying levels to choose from.

Miniature Effect:
Create your own ‘Toy Story’ with the Miniature Effect! By softening the circumference of the lens and sharpening the rest of the image, real-life photographs are changed into a diorama.

Making Photography Easier for Everybody
Canon keeps the complex simple with the SMART Feature Selections, allowing users to access various features and modes easily.

SMART AUTO Mode:
Capture incredible photos with extreme ease by engaging the SMART AUTO function. Canon’s Scene Detection and Face Detection Technologies analyze each scene in detail – checking subject brightness, contrast, distance and identify the optimal settings for 22 scenes intuitively ensuring perfect images all the time. (The IXUS 105 detects 18 scenes).

SMART FE (Flash Exposure) and Intelligent Contrast Correction (i-Contrast):
To help users from taking overexposed photographs for normal and macro shooting, the SMART FE feature adjusts the flash exposure based on the surrounding natural and ambient lighting.

At the other end of the spectrum, the i-Contrast mode helps to brighten underexposed images when the ambient or natural lighting conditions are unavailable. Making it more convenient for users, the i-Contrast feature can be applied before taking the shot or during playback.

Never miss a photo opportunity with SMART Shutter:
With this new range of cameras (except for the IXUS 105) 3 shooting modes have been incorporated which ensures that you will never have to miss a photo opportunity again.

Smile Shutter: With this function, the camera detects smiles on faces and automatically captures the subject without the need to press the shutter button.

Wink Self-timer: In this mode the camera will only snap once a wink is detected on the main subject. Now you can set yourself nicely for the best composition and just wink at the camera when you are ready to have your photograph taken.

Face Self-timer: With this function, the timer only starts counting down when a new face enters the scene – giving the photographer ample time to enter the photo when using the timer function.

Capture and share High Definition (HD) video:
The IXUS 130, IXUS 210 and PowerShot SX210 IS all come with High Definition (HD) video at 720p resolution. Thanks to a YouTube^TM upload function, integrated into the bundled CameraWindow software, users who have already registered with YouTube^TM can login and upload video clips from their PC at the touch of a button.

Keep shooting with unprecedented storage:
The four new cameras are compatible with new SDXC memory cards, enabling faster transfer rates and storage capacity of up to 2 Terabytes, reducing the need to free up space in memory cards for new shots.

Power Redefined: The PowerShot SX210 IS

Taking the Concept of Touch to the New Level: The IXUS 210

For those seeking a stylish and highly functional digital camera, look no further than the IXUS 105. Armed with a 12.1-Megapixel resolution, 28mm wide angle lens, 4x Optical Zoom lens and an enlarged 2.7-inch PureColor System LCD screen, the easy to use IXUS 105 is suitable for beginners and enthusiasts alike.

The four new cameras are compatible with new SDXC memory cards, enabling faster transfer rates and storage capacity of up to 2 Terabytes, reducing the need to free up space in memory cards for new shots.

Over the Sand and the Sea
Protect your new IXUS cameras! Two new optional, ultra-slim and lightweight waterproof cases (WP-DC37 and WP-DC36) are available for the IXUS 130 and the IXUS 105 respectively. This new slim line case is perfect for users to bring with them outdoors and can be used underwater to depths of up to 40m. With a simplified button layout, this makes it quick for users to access the camera’s features, whether at the beach or in the pool.

Pricing and availability
The IXUS 105 is currently available at a recommended retail price of S$349.00 at all authorized Canon Dealers.

The PowerShot SX210 IS, IXUS 210, IXUS 130 and IXUS 105 will be available at authorized Canon Dealers from mid March. Prices are to be announced in mid March.
