Canon''s high-definition (HD) DSLR and camcorder make their big debut on the small screen with the ever popular drama serial Fighting Spiders Season 2
Singapore, 26 February 2010 – Canon brings the second season of the ever-popular English drama serial "Fighting Spiders" into your living room in High Definition. Using the power of its EOS DSLR and LEGRIA High Definition Flash Memory camcorder, this is the first time in Singapore that an entire 13-episode drama serial is 100 percent produced on Canon EOS DSLR and LEGRIA camcorder.
"This collaboration between Canon and Dream Forest is a testament to the superior image quality of Canon''s high-definition consumer DSLRs and Flash-based Memory camcorders," says Andrew Koh, Director and General Manager of Consumer Imaging & Information Division, Canon Singapore. "The filming of Fighting Spiders 2 proves that the quality of our EOS DSLRs and LEGRIA flash memory camcorders is good enough for commercial productions."
Beyond traditional film-making
Fighting Spiders 2 will be shot entirely by Canon product systems at an estimated 90% of the filming to be shot on the EOS 7D and the remaining 10% on LEGRIA HF S11.
The EOS 7D is used to produce a cinematic effect while filming. Accompanying the 2 units of EOS 7D are a variety of Canon Lenses ranging from macro to telescopic lenses, which provides the production house with the flexibility and creativity to achieve various effects, which ultimately contributed to the overall tone and feel of the series.
For action scenes, the production team turned towards the Canon LEGRIA HF S11 to film. With its superior lens quality and small compact design, the LEGRIA HF S11 is the perfect blend between performance and mobility. By using these compact camcorders, it presented the crew with a flexibility which was previously unobtainable with a traditional professional camera.

During their three months of shooting across Batam and Singapore, the crew worked with rigs and tripod stands which provided them full control over the cameras and camcorders.
"Using a DSLR and a handheld camcorder not only provided us with the flexibility and mobility when filming, it also gave us an opportunity to try out different tricks and effects." says Glenn Chan, Director of Photography (DOP) & Director for "Fighting Spiders 2", Dream Forest, "With Canon''s reputation as a leader in the imaging industry and with their superior lens quality on their DSLRs and camcorders, it was only natural that we chose Canon as a partner."
"Fighting Spiders 2" is currently in the final stages of filming. Production is expected to be completed by March and the drama serial is scheduled to be telecasted sometime in the middle of this year on Channel 5.
