The Canon HD Camera System combines a 3.89 megapixel Full HD CMOS sensor, a 15x optical zoom Canon HD Video Lens and the DIGIC DV III processor to deliver superb Full HD movies. On the highest quality setting, movies are captured at 24Mbps.

The new Night Scene mode is able to capture night scenes as they appear to the eye, suppressing noise while keeping excessive light compensation in check to ensure natural-looking videos of recordings during night.

Shooting HD is easy. Instant AF achieves pin-sharp focus quickly, while a Dynamic Super Range OIS prevents camera shake from ruining shots. Powered by DIGIC DV III, Face Detection Technology optimises shooting settings for perfect people shots – up to 35 faces in a frame.

Video Snapshot mode makes it incredibly easy to create movies for sharing. Each time the Record button is pressed, a 4 seconds clip is captured. Simply add your clips to a playlist, select a soundtrack and you’re instantly ready to watch your movie on a TV – no need for editing. Alternatively, 4 seconds of video footage can be converted to video snapshot files with a touch of a button during video playback. Five rights-free tracks are pre-loaded onto the camcorder: you can also add your own music using the Music Transfer Utility.

With Quick Start and Pre REC you’re always ready. From Standby, opening the LCD screen powers up the camcorder in around a second. Pre REC continuously stores 3 seconds of footage while the camcorder is on: once you press Record, you also capture the preceding 3 seconds of action.

The LEGRIA HF21 supports the expanded colour space of x.v.Colour. When movies are played back on a compatible HD TV, colours look deep and rich. 25p Cinema Mode gives your movies the traditional look of film and offers improved low-light shooting.

Shoot high resolution 3.3 megapixel photos. Or, in Dual Shot mode, capture 2 megapixel stills at any time during video recording without changing modes – controls are set to automatic to make it easy. Photo Burst grabs 25 stills from a second of recorded footage.

Record superior audio via a microphone input and monitor levels via the headphone jack. Manual audio control offers even more options.
