| What got you interested in photography?
It was during the days when I was studying overseas. Back then, I got myself a film-based Rollei camera which has since been discontinued. I had the camera with me wherever I went and it basically sparked off my interest in photography. However, it didn't last me very long because the shutter mechanism was starting to show its age. From that, I then moved on to normal point-and-shoot cameras. Yet, it was only during my trip to Sri Lanka did I really get a chance to try out a DSLR camera, which was a Canon 400D. I ended up buying a Canon 400D for myself after the trip and had been using it ever since.
How did you feel about the Canon 400D and what made you decide to get one?
After the Sri Lanka trip, I had to go Europe and so naturally I needed a camera to take pictures. My first consideration was that I wanted a good camera but not a DSLR because they were expensive. However, because of my experience with the Canon 400D in Sri Lanka, I began appreciating the controls DSLR cameras offered, particularly the different depth of views I was able to achieve. The technical skills I picked up during the Sri Lanka trip really made me aware of the inadequacy of my point-and-shoot camera, as it was unable to offer me the control and precision that I wanted anymore. Along with my interest in photography, the precision and advanced imaging capabilities of a DSLR camera were really the catalysts that spurred me on to invest in a Canon 400D.
Was it easy to learn all the features and the functions of your Canon 400D?
When I first got my hands on the Canon 400D, I didn't have the product manual, but yet using it was a breeze. However, as it was the first time I moved beyond a point-and-shoot camera, I did have to familiarize myself with new acronyms I didn't know previously. Nevertheless, the Canon 400D is really user friendly and I would say it's very easy to maneuver as well.
Which features of the Canon 400D do you find important? Being a female, I definitely appreciate the lightness of the camera. Weight is very important. After being worn out from a day of shooting, the weight of a camera [lenses not withstanding] will be very important to me. But to us professionals, durability, lightweight and weather resistant properties are key considerations in the purchase of a DSLR camera. Of course, color reproduction quality and a full-frame sensor are also other points I consider when looking at a DSLR camera. |
