Canon cares
Inspired by our corporate philosophy, kyosei, Canon Singapore kick-started the Canon Photography Exchange programme, which capitalised on our expertise in digital imaging, to bring a delightful learning experience to intellectually challenged groups. Photography is one of the many ways that Canon and teachers believe can help the students express themselves creatively.
Canon Singapore was recognised for its voluntary services rendered to the Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN), one of the organisations it had been working with under the programme. The bronze Excellent Service Award was presented to the company during the Children's Charities Association annual awards presentation ceremony that took place in October 2009.
Canon Singapore also participated in other CSR activities in 2009 including Twestival, a global initiative that seeks to band Twitter users around the world for the purpose of benefiting a charity. Our participation both in donations and loan of imaging products helped to raise funds for the Singapore Children's Cancer Foundation and supported the local social media community.
Responding to an appeal from the Red Cross, Canon Singapore also donated to the relief efforts to aid the survivors of the earthquake that took place in Padang, Indonesia.
