Features

Standard ENG/EFP lens

The HJ17ex7.6B IRSE A/IASE A answers the pressing demands of broadcast newsgathering and for low-weight and high-mobility and the exacting performance requirements for HDTV acquisition. Superb optimization strategies helped achieve the sought-for performance – having a high sensitivity, an excellent MTF profile over the entire image plane, minimization of chromatic aberrations, and maximization of image contrast. The maximum aperture of f 1.8 makes this lens eminently suited to low-light newsgathering acquisition.

Short Minimum Object Distance of 0.56m

By reducing the minimum object distance to 0.56m the lens can be better utilized within confined spaces allowing objects to be effectively imaged at short distances while operating with a wide angle of view facilitated by the minimum 7.6mm focal length. Design improvements have lowered optical aberrations at the wider angle and open aperture settings.

Digital Technologies

New third-generation enhanced digital servo systems using Canon-developed 16-bit optical rotary encoder devices introduce new creativity to handheld acquisition systems. Enhanced Digital Drive technology - encompasses a microcomputer driven servo control that embodies position memory and user-defined digital functionality to significantly empower the camera operator. A 16-bit rotary encoder for aperture control reports to the associated camera Iris control system (10-bit compatibility). Maximum Zoom speed is 0.5 seconds and Focus is 1.5 seconds.
